CALL FOR PROPOSALS

Help shape the 2008 retreat content. Proposals for presentations in any of the four session themes are invited. You may also propose a presentation, workshop, or activity that doesn't fit neatly into one of the sessions...we have some time reserved for the unexpected.

  New Topics/ New Approaches
1. Carbon Neutrality in the Studio and Classroom
Lessons from your studio teaching. Methods of integrating carbon neutrality in lectures and seminars. What synergies are possible?
2. Green is more than Counting Carbon: Teaching topics other than energy
Reports on alternatives such as Social, Economic, and Interdisciplinary approaches.
  Resetting the Agenda
3. Forum on the SBSE Agenda for Architectural Research
Addressing the USGBC and others' research agendas.
4. Forum on the SBSE Agenda for Architectural Education
All about inspiration and implementation of the SBSE 2010 Initiative.

Limit your proposal to one page. All sessions will be seventy-five minutes in length and presentations will be limited to 15 minutes. A digital projector, overhead projector, and a flip chart will be available and we'll supply the computer. Bring your presentation on a CD and/or a thumb drive. You must supply any other materials needed.

Proposals must include:

  • Name(s) of session organizer/presenter

  • Contact information (institution, email, telephone, website)

  • Theme(s) addressed by your proposal

  • Title of your presentation

  • Summary of objectives, specific issues addressed, questions raised, and/or activities implemented

  • Intended outcome(s) and deliverable(s)

Submission Deadline: Proposals with “Subject: SBSE Retreat Proposal” should be submitted via e-mail by Tuesday, February 5, 2008, 5:00 pm PST to both:

Notification: Tuesday, February 12, 2008 
Accepted presenters must then register for the retreat by Monday, April 7, 2008, 5:00 pm PDT to ensure a place at the retreat. Remember that you must make your own lodging and travel arrangements. See Getting There and Where to Stay. Book early!

A second draft retreat schedule will be posted to the SBSE listserve and retreat web site around February 18, 2008.
