Help shape the 2007 retreat content. Proposals for sessions, presentations,
workshops, demonstrations, or interactive activities that
address one or more of these themes are invited:

Practitioners
Theme
Activities, programs, and research in concert with design practitioners. Describe how these experiences inform teaching and practice. What do firms need from academia? What can academia give to firms? What synergies are possible? |

K—12 Programs
Theme
Activities and programs involving K-12 programs that enhance an understanding of building impacts on nature and ecology. |
| 3. |
Communities
and Studies Abroad
Theme
Programs conducted with local community groups or beyond that address research, design, and nurturing the environment. |

Innovations
Theme
Exemplar tools, methods, and inventions that enhance energy- and resource-efficiency in building design and town planning. |

Roundtable Discussions
or Working
Groups
“Hot topic” perspectives from SBSE colleagues to be discussed in an informal setting. |
Limit your proposal to one page. All sessions will be seventy-five minutes in length
(though shorter activities are welcome, too). Flip charts and digital projectors will be
available. Presenters must bring their own computer and supply other materials as needed.

Proposals with “Subject: SBSE Retreat Proposal” should be submitted via e-mail by
Monday, March 5, 2007, 5:00 pm PST
to both:

Notification: Monday, March 12, 2007
Accepted presenters must then register for the retreat by Friday, April 6, 2007, 5:00 pm
PDT to ensure a place at IslandWood.
A draft retreat schedule will be posted to the SBSE listserve and retreat
web site around March 18, 2007.
