The ASES/ SBSE Green Architecture Student Poster Contest

The Society of Building Science Educators is sponsoring a contest at the 2005 Solar World Conference focusing on architectural applications of solar and renewable energies, energy efficiency, and green design.

Poster presentations should address topics related to the integration of passive design strategies in buildings (heating, cooling, and daylighting), the use of renewable resources in buildings (solar, PV, wind, geothermal, biomass, daylighting), energy efficiency through architectural design, and/or green practices for buildings (indoor air quality, resource conservation, etc..). We are interested in recognizing case studies, studio projects and other student research, analysis and/or design work that demonstrate the integration of these progressive building technologies and design and/or address building and building system performance.

This poster competition is open to students in any program (architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, construction, interior design, physics, etc..) as long as the focus of the work is applied rather than theoretical, and relates to building design, construction and/or performance.

Poster Layout Information

-

Design as two separate (20" wide x 36" high) boards or a single large board (40" wide x 36" high), either mounted or un-mounted.

-

You will be responsible for bringing your poster to the ASES conference and mounting it for display on standing pin-up boards. Please bring mounting supplies (pins, tacks, clips).

-

All sources should be appropriately cited. Posters incorporating text or images that are used without proper reference will be disqualified.

-

Posters for this contest are not technical posters and do not need associated technical papers.

-

All conference site schedule details (when to have posters pinned up, when the poster session and judging will be, etc.) to be announced soon.  Please revisit this page in the near future.

Student Poster Abstracts

To insure high standards for the entire poster presentation, SBSE will review and accept or reject poster abstracts. An accepted abstract is a prerequisite to entering the poster contest.

Submit a one page abstract with the following information:

-

A short description of the content presented, principles and concepts conveyed, the significance of the approach in architectural design, and the information that people will take away from your presentation.

-

Names, affiliations, degree program, mailing addresses, phone number and e-mail address of all authors – with designation of corresponding author. Identify any faculty listed as co-authors.
